Harpeth Hall welcomes students back to campus with the Nashville Art Guild’s exhibition “Different Directions,” available for viewing in person here in the Marnie Sheridan Gallery and online at harpethhall.org/marnie-sheridan-gallery.
Art created during times of uncertainty and confusion challenges the artist and viewer to see things in different ways. “Different Directions” showcases a diverse mix of artwork from the Nashville Artist Guild ranging from abstract to realism in various media including charcoal, oil, acrylic, encaustic, and mixed media.
This show first planned to feature artwork celebrating Nashville Artist Guild’s 70th Anniversary. With the world rapidly changing to combat an international pandemic, we decided to move in a different direction. Instead we invited artists to submit work that they have created during quarantine, or previously created work that they now view with fresh eyes. The gallery is bursting at the seams with artwork created by artists who continue to make work, despite not knowing what the future holds.
The Marnie Sheridan Art Gallery is a learning gallery for the students at both the middle and upper schools at Harpeth Hall. It is our goal to include compelling contemporary artwork that is both challenging and inspiring to our students.
